With information, activities, events, and your help, Stella Foundation aims to create awareness and openness about depression in order to reduce the number of deaths by suicide in Korea.
HOW YOU CAN HELP US FIGHT DEPRESSION
“My wish is that together we can turn Korea from a suicide nation into a happy nation.” – Jaehoon Cho, founder of The Stella Foundation
South-Korea has the highest depression and suicide rate of all the OECD countries. It’s so bad, that every 38 min someone takes their own life.
Unfortunately, three years ago, I lost my mom to depression.
Depression is a disease, but it is treatable. However, it is still a taboo in Korea and many people feel too ashamed to talk about their illness and don’t get treated. With often disastrous consequences.
Though it is too late for my mom, it’s in her honor that I’ve founded Stella Foundation.
“Depression is a real and serious disease. Remember to treat others with care.” – George Takei
Our founder Jaehoon, is cycling from Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania all the way down to Cape of Good Hope in South Africa. Why? Well to raise awareness, to find a time and a place to deal with the death of his mother and to become part of local events and communities that share our goals and values.
Stay tuned for the documentary that will tell the whole story!
